Can you believe that 2015 is over tomorrow?!?!?!?!? I seriously wonder where the year went. I could have sworn it was just starting the other day yet here we are with it about to wrap up. 2015 was a pretty awesome year here at DoneBP.com and 2016 is shaping up to be an even better year and I can’t wait to share with you everything that we are working on and helping you guys build the business of your dreams!
I have compiled a list of 10 books that have not only fundamentally changed my life but have also helped me build a better business and I want to share this list with you! So here is the official list….
Number 10 – Persuasion Skills Black Book- Rintu Basu
This is a short but powerful book for everyone to read. It doesn’t matter what type of business you are running, using powerful and persuasive language is always something that is going to impact your business tremendously. When you own your own business you’re always selling it, the idea, the products or services, and everything else about it. So learning to be more persuasive when you are talking about it can only further benefit your business! This book has short simple exercises that you can practice in your day to day life. There are examples of the langauge so you can see how it’s used and really make the most out of each concept as you learn it!
Number 9 – The School of Greatness – Lewis Howes
Lewis’ story from broken athlete to business superstar is fascinating. He has a no-nonsense approach to being great in your business that anyone can apply. I like this book because it tackles not just one aspect of becoming great but many different aspects including business, your thought patterns, building a winning team, hustling, and so much more. He has a bunch of exercises in the book to help you along this path. It is definitely worth the read!
Number 8 – Screw It Let’s Do It – Richard Branson
This book was also in my 2015 list but it’s still one of my favorites and will help your business in 2016 too! In this phenomenal book from one of my personal business hero’s he talks about his ideas for being a better entrepreneur and human being. If you have followed the virgin brand at all in the last year they’re doing some pretty amazing things not just in their niches but also with their employees, vacation time, maternity leave, and much more. He is a great example of a boss who puts his employees first and it shows when you use any of their services, many times they get raving fans because of how their employees treat customers. He also shares what he feels are some of the secrets to his success and how to achieve more from your goals. This is a short but very powerful book. Definitely check it out.
Number 7 – The Power of Habit – Charles Duhigg
This book was recommended to me by a good friend who enjoyed it. When I first started reading it I was quickly bored with the topic, however it had come highly recommended so I pressed on. After getting past the first few chapters I quickly became enamored by the content and finished the whole book in just a few days (it’s almost 400 pages long). Charles digs into not just how habits form, but the science behind them, how we can start to change them, and uses real world examples that we have all seen of or at least heard of to help us recognize these habit patterns and the ways they are being changed. .If you have bad habits you’re looking to change this book will give you the insight to make those changes and do it in an engaging and fun to read way!
Number 6 – The Switchback Approach – Brock Cannon
Ever thought there had to be an easier way to achieve your goals and dreams? This book is for you then! My friend Brock wrote this amazing book this year and it hit number 1 in its category on amazon! If you’re looking to improve your health, wealth, or relationships, all of which can dramatically impact your business success then pick up this book and check it out!
Number 5 – Jab Jab Jab, Right Hook – Gary Vaynerchuk
Gary’s book Crush It made my list last year and is still one of my favorite books for business. However he takes it to the next level with Jab Jab Jab Right Hook. I have tought thousands of people about marketing on social media and this book has been the premise for much of that teaching. In today’s world where brands are everywhere you can imagine, ad’s are being sold on anything that has the space, and brands now need to have an estimated 13 touches before an action is taken, this book shows you the proven strategy to have better results. No only does he tell you whats working and not working, he shows you both good AND bad examples of using social media to increase your business. This book is jammed with value and I would highly recomend you pick it up if you want to market on social media. If you don’t think social media is useful for you then please contact me so I can show you how it can be valuable for any industry!.
Number 4 – How to Win Friends & Influence People – Dale Carnegie
This book was released in 1936 so it’s hardly something new, but the power and impact of this book is not be underestimated. .More and more in today’s economy, as the gap between wealthy and poor increases, and entrepreneurship has gone from the pariaeh of careers to the “new hot thing” this book offers up practical advice that goes back to the basis of most business in that it’s all about WHO you know. If you want to increase your business, get that dream job, secure that whale of a client, secure more joint venture relationships, or anything else that involves people in your business (which is pretty much every aspect of it), then you need to read this book asap! It has sold more than 15 million copies, which should be enough to convince you to go get yours if you haven’t already!
Number 3 – The 4 Hour Work Week – Tim Ferriss
Another from my 2015 list because let’s be honest… Tim’s stuff is phenominal and if you haven’t read this yet then you need to get on that as soon as possible. This book single-handedly changed the way I saw work. It changed the way I approached time management and more importantly it changed the way I choose to spend my time. I still had my full time job when I first read it and was struggling to find enough time to put into the business. By implementing much of what Tim talks about in this book I went from “working” (and I use that term very loosely) 50-60 hours per a week, to truly working about 25. I cut the time it took me to accomplish the same tasks in half. Now of course I put that time to my business not to doing more work for my job, which allowed me to accomplish so much more. This is a must read book for any entrepreneur who ever finds themselves wondering how they are going to get everything done in the time they have..
Number 2 – The Way You Do Anything is The Way You Do Everything – Suzanne Evans
This book was also on my 2015 list, however I had the awesome ability to attend the Thrive conference put on by Cole Hatter and see Suzanne Evans speak. She has a no bullshit, down to earth attitude that I really connected with. Her stories and anicdotes were very amusing and fun to listen to. So I am including her on this list again because I still really like this book that someone (still no one has told me it was them) sent to me. Suzanne made some amazing points about business growth and the way I was approaching things needed some adjustment. Each chapter includes a set of action steps based on what was covered, making implementing the changes she talks about SUPER easy. The name of the book says it all and I think we could all step up our game a little bit. Definitely check this one out.
Number 1 – Get Out Of Your Own Way – Me!!!
Of course I am going to put my own book at number 1! If you want to learn how to prevent the perfectionist mindset from sabotaging your business (and costing you literally hundreds of thousands of dollars), a simple yet powerful strategy to accomplish your goals without overwhelm, how to turn any business mistake into mounds of money, how to get more accomplished in a day than most do in a month, and the elite secrets that successful entrepreneurs use to scale their businesses (stress free) then this book is for you!
These are 10 books that will change your life and business in 2016 and beyond. I included links to amazon where you can get them in hard copy, kindle format, or many of them in audio book format as well. I hope you enjoyed this list and I would love to know what books have inspired you recently, share below in the comments!
